Chapter 41: A Change of Coats

Watching the clothes dry.

Wait a second...

We don't own one of those...

Sifton becomes a teen. She and Paprika have agreed to be partners in crime, and immediately head to The Grind to test curfew.
"So, does your dad known you own a skirt like that?"

"Nah."

Speaking of dads, it's hard to feel like a rebel when one's father insists on lurking around.

Paprika's teen trait is party animal. Her father was a party animal from childhood, and Jazz was a party animal since dinosaurs roamed around simhenge, but Paprika needed some time to grow into it.

A babysitter appears for Sifton as well.

Paprika can't help but to stare. "What is this? Village people?"

"Yeah, well, thanks to your hair people will think he's your guardian, not mine," Sifton points out.

"Crap," Paprika whines, "you're right."

"So, did I tell you girls about the time I raided thirty criminals?"

Cooking: best done awake.

Paprika saves the day. Jazz is relieved when Randy's best paintings don't go up in flames; Sacha would have been so upset.

Martin tells Paprika she did a good job and all, but he'd prefer it if she left life-threatening situations to the guys in Kevlar suits.

Melody's band finally has a gig at the saloon. Nigel is already an elder and far too lazy to dress respectably.

The rockin' begins when Josephine finally shows up. Marty dances along, under the impression he is part of the act.

Nigel shows off his sweet moves.

Pavel changes to his normal clothes with vampire twirling-around magic and pretends to make out with his instrument.

Two hours later the gig is over, and Pavel flees indoors.

"It burns... it burns... ahahaaa.."

Some follow-up jamming in front of the theater, once dusk has set in. Pic featuring Nigel, Bernice, Arthur, Pavel, Melody, and one of Melody's nephews.

Sifton is only days into her teen life stage, but is already dreaming of her future.

"So what will you go into? Personally, I think I could
be an actress... I have the gorgeous looks..."

Paprika has no idea what she wants to do when she grows up.

"Uh, well, dragon hunting could be glamorous," she ventures.

Sifton stares at her for a while. Then says, "you know dragons aren't real right?"

Paprika frowns. "Oh. Are you sure?"

The jam session gains another member.

Pavel isn't interested in Bernice, but Bernice is interested in Pavel. Unfortunately the young vampire woman is shy and socially inept, only able to mumble nervously about how she likes Pavel's jacket.

Paprika's mind turns in circles for the next few days. What career should she devote herself to? Does she have to pick just one? What's she good at?

Charming. Now works on husbands.

Ernie Holloway is known for being a little slow, but throwing money directly onto a cobra's head is a new low.

Not to be outdone by her twin brother, who has a very rocky relationship with Judith Grisby, Josephine has spawned two sons by two different men ("friends" from work), and is now in a relationship with a third. The third time is the charm?

Meet Grant, son of jammin' mohawk dude above, and Julian, son of Ace Wilde. No one knows where giant-eyed Ace came from or why he's allowed to breed, though a popular theory is "Mars" and "he's not."

Continuing her day of playing for tips, Melody rocks in front of the Bistro, and quickly attracts a crowd. Martin seizes the opportunity to solicit teenage girls.

It's great that Valencia Wicks likes her makeover, and all, but Melody finds her reaction a bit distasteful.

"You don't have to do that, Sifton."

"I'm just giving these losers a hint, Aunt Melody."

Julio Simovitch follows Paprika home from school. He talks endlessly of what he calls "the inevitable sim life cycle", of finding a girlfriend and fixing up the perfect house to live in. Paprika's house is nice, he says, but he would have to do some serious remodeling.

Paprika only has an hour after school before she needs to get to the book store for her part time job, and is happy to have that excuse to leave and send this creep away.

This is Beverly Sargeant, daughter of Susanna Sargeant, granddaughter of Patricia McDermott. She wants an outfit that will draw attention away from her horse-like face, and yet remain tasteful. It's a tall order for our favorite stylist.

He manages, though.

"You're such an artistic genius," Beverly swoons.

Beverly's husband is getting the wrong idea.

Martin wins him over with a professional solicitation.

He has a pool and he wants to use it in style. Or is he just trying to make the stylist uncomfortable?

Ah, the smell and warmth of fresh clothes. It's good to be back home and worrying about his own clothes instead of other people's.

Leona and Halen sleep in the bed Sacha and Jazz left empty. Restless spirits need rest, apparently.

What is Halen's ghost doing here anyway? Shouldn't she be haunting next door?

A jam session at the pool. Or, a thinly veiled attempt to show off tattoos.

Martin is quick to steal Melody's thunder.

"You're a bed pan cleaner, but what I see is
a world renowned surgeon. You must dress like one!"

"This hairstyle is very popular among your age group."

"My company is coming out with fresh contacts next year.
I'll be able to make your eyes shine like my brother's."

Barry Tenderlove doesn't want a makeover from some guy with blue hair. He left Bridgeport because of nonsense like that.

Martin still attends almost every party he's invited to. Like this one, which has a total of two guests after the host decides to go to bed. And Martin is one of them.

"A wardrobe to match my personality, please," the second guest grumbles. "If you're going to insist on getting my money tonight, you'd better make it worth it."

Is Martin a liar? Or is he trying to reshape his world?

Melody receives her final tattoo from Rita, these green sparkles which serve as some kind of metaphor for the passage of time. Rita will pass away not long after Paprika ages to young adult, and Melody won't have the heart to trust the younger, gentler, less evil tattoo artist that replaces her.

A visit with Nakisha, who is trying out the cheerleader look.

Juggling a part time job, school and a social life is hard work. Paprika gets the weekends off, but on weekdays visits with friends are late and short.

"Okay Paprika... I know you don't know anything about sports.
Stop trying to impress me. You sound like a fool."

Paprika stares down at her homework while Nakisha cooks macaroni. It's just her and her dad tonight, with Rickie (her mother) working late on a case and Tobin (the teen brother) off with his friends. Rickie is the only one of Halen's children to have married and had children within that marriage.

"You want some?" Nakisha offers.

"Uh... no thanks. Maybe later."

Homework face.

The room Sifton shares with her grandmother, Sacha. It is above Arthur's garage.

Paprika chills out.

Blah blah teenagers.

Pavel's promotions have finally gotten him into serious forensics business, hence the lab coat.

"I am proud of you."

"STFU. How do you stand this, Arthur? White clothes are impossible to keep clean."

"I'm still cool," Pavel assures his niece. "I'm still a cop."

Sifton can be seen sneering.

Pavel proceeds to interview Paprika about local crime.

"I wasn't there, but Nakisha said Kory told her that
Ace Wilde kicked over Grandpa Ivanov's gnome."

Paprika's promotion to Book Club Moderator (part time job level 3) causes dreams of being the CEO of a mega corporation.

This is followed by the crushing realization that all the best-paying jobs would bore her to death, and she's already bored of her after school job, so she quits in order to have more time to find herself, and more time to socialize. Her parents are supportive.
 _____________________________
Etc.: I imported a Bridgeport "family" to see what they would do. Jun Xu initially hooked up with Barry Tenderlove, leaving Ace Wilde to prey upon Josephine. Barry and Jun soon broke up and Ace was quick to leave Josephine in the dust and date Jun instead. Jun has employed herself in the medical field, as seen in one of the screenshots, and I edited her boobs so they aren't trying to take over Canada / cause spine damage.

I also edited Julian's jaw/chin/face in CAS because, surprise surprise, in the child stage he would have grown "the chin mark," as seen in another person's legacy family on the forums. It's actually a problem with sections of the face overlapping/poking through each other. I can only assume Bridgeport is infested with such genetic malpractice.

I didn't edit Ace or Julian's giant anime eyes, because they're hilarious.

With Paprika's promotion, generation 4 parameters have been met. Paprika ages to young adult before Melody has to get another tattoo.

I'm trying to get Martin to the top of his career, and casually see how far Melody can get in her "band" career. She's level 4 or something. The funds needed to reach each new level are pretty crazy.

I'm proud of Sacha and Sifton's room because it looks almost like it belongs with the rest of the house... which was what I was going for. I took lots of pictures from the outside to show it off, but then I deleted them because I was boring myself to death. I also had a pic of Pavel's cop car in their garage.
