Chapter 16: Sparkles and Drama

Leona wonders if there isn't something to her daughter's fear of the dark...

Sparkling vampire alert! Sacha becomes a teen. Her mental image of Leona morphs immediately.

Fiona's twins are now children. Leona asks Zoya about school.

Of course no one at school likes Zoya, Halen explains. Zoya is a space alien from Saturn and everyone knows it.

A return to China. Leona salutes her employer, and her employer's stylish outfit.

The power...

The Chinese police are suspicious of Leona. They should be. Luckily, this officer doesn't realize Leona dove down the Hot Springs dive well, and she eludes him this time.

In memory of her mother, Leona places a gnome she found in China next to Randi's second-favorite invention, "the spinny airplanes."

The gnome won't stay there, of course.

Sacha begins dating. Or rather, trying to find a date. She flirted with Edwardo Quick for a while, but he just wasn't to her tastes. He was far too snobby. And Stanley Broke is a sweet boy, but Patricia insists that dating such an ugly sim would bring nothing but social ruin. Next on Sacha's list is Waylon Holder-McDermott... and he's happy to follow the vampire home after school for a dance.

This one is called THE PUNCH. All the kids are doing it!

Note: no actual punching involved.

Unfortunately Waylon already has a girlfriend - Marlene Grisby. When Sacha poses a pickup line, Waylon feels rather awkward.

Though not as awkward as Sacha feels when Waylon tells her he's already dating Marlene.

After such disappointment, Sacha asks Patricia over to cheer her up. Unfortunately Patricia is pissed off because Sacha was flirting with Edwardo Quick - Patricia's boyfriend!

Sacha tries to explain that she honestly had no idea, but Patricia won't have it. Patricia begins to hurl the insults, starting with ye-olde "your grandfather is a llama."

When Patricia implies Randy may be a secret Grisby cousin (those EARS...), Sacha can't take it anymore and threatens to drink her friend's blood if she doesn't leave.

Intermission: pic of Sacha's bedroom. There's a wooden duck on her bookshelf.

Sacha goes to her aunt's house to de-stress. Fiona knows just how to deal with sad kids... and it works on teenagers sometimes, too.

Sacha mentions her new part-time job at the cemetery. She's trying to overcome her cowardly nature.

Thoughts of graveyards and threats to drink friends' blood? The rusty wheels in Fiona's brain turn.

"You know... Dad isn't, strictly speaking, your only grandfather."

One long story later, Sacha's only question is: "so who is your twins' father?"

"One of those good for nothing Brokes," Fiona replies. Alana's rich husband was the only one of the entire lot of them to ever do something with his life!

Intermission: Grim comes for Randy, but is distracted by a flower.

Randy lives.

Elsewhere, Sacha feels it is her destiny to visit the mysterious Ivanovs - her blood relations and the source of her vampirism, according to Fiona.

The first thing Sacha notices at the Ivanov place is a gnome. She quickly uses her psychic powers to determine it's not a magic gnome. Whew. Maybe one day her powers will even work on other sims.

Yuri is pleased to see his grandchild. He knew this day would come. Unfortunately his advice to her mainly consists of ways to stay out of the sun. Yawn!

Yuri promises Sacha's vampire abilities will develop when she's an adult. A longer lifespan, ultimate speed, mind-reading... it can all be hers, if she so chooses.

Riverview's mysterious ghost hunter was, all along, Sacha's uncle Dimitri. He is now retired, and wants to know what his little brother's daughter aspires to be when she grows up...

A chef. The very best chef who ever lived.

Leona earns a promotion. Tally-ho!

Sacha stays late after work to search for her father's grave. Cleveland's life was short and Yuri didn't have much to say about him. Sacha knows there are ghosts in her universe, and would like very much to speak to this one...

Cleveland Ivanov is not as much of a restless spirit as one would think. He doesn't appear on command. Sacha is forced to lift up his gravestone and carry home the ashes, which are nicely packed in a square container.

When her daughter isn't home at nine sharp, Leona calls every cop in Riverview to search for her. Sacha is apprehended in front of Fiona's house, mere yards from home. The police phone Leona.

Some words are had.

Anyway, Leona has no idea about the ghost her daughter is trying to summon. Sacha places the box on the floor in her room and waits.

She waits for quite a while.

Cleveland eventually appears, while Sacha is asleep.

Steeling herself against memories of heartbreak and regret, Leona demands to know what Cleveland was doing in their cowardly daughter's room. He could have caused her to faint again, and all.

"Come on! Can't I check in on my own kid?"

Cleveland is a weak spirit. He can't stay for long.

Though there may be ways of cheating...

...for just one last dance.

Sacha's pursuits have all been failures. She has no boyfriend. Leona confiscated her father's ashes. Waylon broke up with Marlene Grisby and is now dating Aimee Lin-Newbie.

Patricia has forgiven her, at least. Patricia plots to find Sacha a suitable boyfriend.

By this point, however, Sacha is numb to teen drama and the social pressure to find a boyfriend. As far as she's concerned, the Archer house can pass into the hands of her little cousins, Halen and Zoya.

In the background is Demetria Caspian. She may not be as hideous or insane as Lori Grisby, and she does live with Patricia, but she dresses like a teacher and is universally shunned.
_____________________

Etc.: Whew. That was a long one. Somewhere in there, Sacha reached level 3 in her part-time job. The rolled goals for generation 2 are complete. This leaves my personal goals of Leona's LTW (astronaut), and some miscellaneous things in China.

Leona had to do adventures to get Pangu's Axe, even though she hasn't rolled adventurer. I don't really care. I turn down enough simoleons later on down the line to compensate for my desire to conquer China, France and Egypt. I had a different sim family do every quest in China, so really my goals for Leona are to obtain all of the Chinese vases, and get Pangu's Axe. I will skip the quest sequences that involve martial arts if at all possible... so I think that's two tombs I won't have access to in China.

I forgot to mention it in my last post, but I also allow Leona to eat morsels in the tombs. Otherwise she would starve. There's just no way around it. Time doesn't pass on vacations, so she still spends as much time at home eating "homemade" as she would if I didn't send her to China at all. When she's in the base camp, I still have her cook all of her meals there.

Cleveland's box-urn-THING amused me, but also made me feel bad again. I'd never seen one like that.

Randy lived for so long, I was beginning to think it was glitch. But no, turns out he was just randomly lucky and lived for ages longer than his wife, before Grim showed up. I realize it's not much of a "legacy" if Randy never dies, or if Sacha vampire-ages. I'm only allowing Randy one more death flower usage; I was raised by my great-grandparents, and would like to see a sim see his great grandchildren. I'm not sure what I will do about Sacha. If her heir is a vampire, I intend to cure him/her of it (oops, spoilers).
